You still have the option to participate in Summer Institute through our Online Only classes that will be held the first two days of Summer Institute, July 24 & 25. The bus from southern Idaho is also sold out.  If you would like to be added to the waiting list for the bus or in-person attendance, contact Katye Harris - kharris@idahoea.org.

The theme for this year’s IEA Summer Institute is "Adventure Awaits!" You can expect excitement and opportunities for growth and exploration as you learn, network with colleagues and reconnect with friends. This event will take place in-person at Lewis - Clark State College in Lewiston from July 24th to 27th, 2024. For those unable to attend physically, there will be online strands available on July 24th and 25th.

Representative Sonia Galaviz, Ed.D

Soñia Galaviz is a Title 1 interventionist and educator in Boise, Idaho. She has taught for 20 years in Title 1 schools and is passionate about public education and community engagement within those schools. In 2017, Soñia received acknowledgement from the National Education Association Foundation, winning the national award for Teaching Excellence. She received her doctorate in the spring of 2020 from Boise State University focusing on STEM education for underserved populations. She was honored with Boise State’s Distinguished Alumni in 2021. In 2022, she was elected to serve in the Idaho Legislature, House of Representatives, for district 16. She has two grown children, loves Idaho’s outdoors, and is slowly chipping away at visiting all of the National Parks in the United States.
