We will practice Socratic Seminar strategies and activities that promote 100% voluntarily student-led interactive participation.
You will learn techniques in this class that will enable you to teach your students to:
- be able to confidently engage in at least 1 type of student-led Socratic Seminar class discussion,
- have confidence in formulating insightful and/or debatable thoughts and questions related to a given topic,
- understand the value of being prepared for class (staying on topic of the scheduled reading) through direct observation during the activity of how much fun everyone who did prepare is having,
- have a stronger sense of being able to analyze and evaluate the strengths and limitations of quotes provided from a text through discussion,
- be able to practice smoothly and confidently citing quotes from a text to support their arguments.
